1 . Can we use this product even if we’re not a resort?

Even though Tip Gratify was built by hospitality professionals with resorts in mind, any business with tipped workers can benefit. We are a great solution for lots of businesses, including but not limited to:

2 . How much does it cost?

Tip Gratify is free for your business to use! All of our fees are collected from the customer at the point of transaction, making this a win-win for you.

3 . How do I sign up?

4 . Can I get a demo first?

5 . How does it work for customers?

It’s a very simple, user-friendly process.

  1. Your customer scans the printed or digital QR code you have placed around your business through the camera on their phone.
  2. They click the link that pops up to bring them to our responsive tipping website.
  3. They will select the amount they would like to give, and are able to pay with a card, or Google or Apple Pay. All transactions run securely through Stripe.
  4. Each tip is sent to your business’ designated account, cataloged under the individual or team, and will be distributed every 10-15 days. Bank account information can be entered upon opening your account or at the time of the first transfer.

6 . Is an app required?

No app is required, which reduces the barrier for customers to use it.

7 . How long does it take to get your system up and running at our place of business?

8 . What is the set up process like?

  1. Click here to open your account and begin setting up your business profile, where you can upload documents to verify your business, tailor branding and enter bank account information.
  2. A member of our team will review to ensure we have everything we need, and will approve your account so you can begin to collect tips, likely that same day.
  3. Set up your feedback survey screen (optional).
  4. Once you’re set up, request your free starter kit, with printed materials to get you started, which you’ll receive in 1-2 business days.
  5. Set up your employee and/or team information.
  6. Print and place your QR codes around your business and start collecting tips!
  7. Use our dashboard and reporting features to track tips.

9 . What is a QR code, and how can I use it?

  1. A QR code stands for “quick response code,” that looks like a square grid and operates a bit like a barcode. Each unique code contains information that can’t be changed after it’s generated, and often links to a specific URL. It can be scanned by a camera phone, where customers click the link to view the appropriate tipping link.
  2. You can use it anywhere in your business space, including:
    • Share QR code via text or email
    • Post on website or social media
    • Print QR code on business cards, flyers, posters
    • Display on monitor, live stream, YouTube

Processing and Security


1 . How are tips processed?

We process tips through Stripe, a secure payment platform.

2 . Is Tip Gratify secure?

  • Yes! Stripe is a transaction platform that allows thousands of businesses to accept payments securely over the internet, from Lyft to Instacart. Stripe is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1, which is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. You can read more here
  • Stripe ensures that Tip Gratify never even has access to any of your customers’ credit card information. Stripe uses encryption and handles, on Tip Gratify’s behalf, all issues dealing with compliance, disputed and fraudulent charges.
  • That, plus the added security of Google and Apple Pay options means your customers can feel safe providing their payment information.

3 . How long does it take for money to be distributed to individual or team accounts?

Deposits will appear within 10-15 days in your business account, to be distributed to individuals and teams at intervals you choose.

4 . Can we utilize QR codes for both pooled tips and individual tips?

  • It depends on how you prefer to run things. To enable individual tipping, you can create multiple individual QR codes, or create one for a department to pool. If a department pools tips, it’s easy to divvy up tips based on hours worked
  • Ex: If James worked 5 hours of 20 total, with $100 in tips collected in total, he would get $25.

5 . Can I customize tip amounts?

You can customize whether suggested amounts show (research shows that enabling this yields higher tips overall), and what those amounts are.

6 . What should I suggest for tipping percentages?

  • Anywhere from 15 - 20% is typical for the hospitality industry. Try using round numbers, which encourage higher tips than percentages if rounded up.
  • Ex: $1 instead of $.97
